The Norwich Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Cunningham Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Norwich is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Norwich was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 44-39 to the Cougars.
Meanwhile, Cunningham stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Fairfield 77-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cunningham's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Luke Albers, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Will Wegerer, who shot 5-for-8 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wegerer has scored all season. Dagim Reed was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Norwich's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Cunningham, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Norwich came up short against the Wildcats in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 48-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wegerer, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Now that Norwich knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
