Even though the Our Lady of Lourdes Warriors scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders still came out on top. Monroe-Woodbury took down the Warriors 69-55.
Monroe-Woodbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nicolas Sanchez, who scored 21 points. It was the first time this season that Sanchez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Pearson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Monroe-Woodbury's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe-Woodbury will take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Kingston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 278 points over their last four contests. Our Lady of Lourdes will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Wallkill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 694th, while the Warriors are ranked 73rd).
