On Friday, The Alamogordo Tigers faced the Hobbs Eagles in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Alamogordo took a serious blow against Hobbs, falling 56-19. Alamogordo has struggled against Hobbs recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Saul Armendariz was on fire for Hobbs: he rushed for 347 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 19.3 yards per carry. Armendariz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Jaquez, who gained 154 total yards and three touchdowns.
Alamogordo's defeat on Friday dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Hobbs, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Alamogordo will take on Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Hobbs, they will head out on the road to face off against Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Organ Mountain comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
