The Liberty Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Desert Pines Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Las Vegas scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Liberty still came out on top. Liberty walked away with a 75-64 victory over Las Vegas. Given Liberty's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Las Vegas is ranked 32nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jace Aquiningoc, who scored 15 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Aquiningoc scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Castillero, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Desert Pines had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Durango on Tuesday and snuck past 57-54.
Liberty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for Desert Pines, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Liberty strolled past Desert Pines when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 70-51. Does Liberty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Desert Pines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
