Baseball Recap: Lafayette Has No Trouble Against South Panola

Lafayette had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt South Panola on Saturday. The Commodores were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Tigers. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Ian Mayo was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collin Waldrip, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lafayette was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Panola only posted a batting average of .263.

Lafayette has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for South Panola, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

As of now, neither Lafayette nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
