Having just played yesterday, the Millington Central Trojans will jump right back in to play the Westview Chargers at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Millington Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Millington Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 66-62 victory over Gibson County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Millington Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayshaun Dye, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Dye's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jyshawn Anderson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Westview lost to Fayette Ware at home by a decisive 50-36 margin on Thursday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Westview has scored all season.
Millington Central's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Westview, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Millington Central came up short against Westview in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 58-49. Can Millington Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
