SouthWest Edgecombe is 0-10 against Washington since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Pam Pack at 6:00 p.m. SouthWest Edgecombe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
SouthWest Edgecombe will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Hunt on Wednesday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 18-5 victory. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.
Alana Carroll made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Carlyn Hodge was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Mackenzie Moore was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
SouthWest Edgecombe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Washington came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Cougars.
Like SouthWest Edgecombe, Washington also got a great game from a two-way player: Emma Orr. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Orr was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In other batting news, Emma Harris was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
SouthWest Edgecombe has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Washington, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3.
SouthWest Edgecombe's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Washington, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will SouthWest Edgecombe continue to outrun the ball?
SouthWest Edgecombe couldn't quite get it done against Washington when the teams last played on Tuesday as they fell 6-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
