The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Cornerstone Academy takes on Ambassador Christian Academy in the first playoff game of the year. Ambassador Christian Academy will need to watch out since Cornerstone Academy has posted big point totals in its previous five matchups.
Cornerstone Academy can now show off seven landslide victories after its most recent game. It had all the answers against Geneva Classical Academy two weeks ago, winning 58 - 25. With six TDs, junior Dominick Haight was a significant factor in the success. This sound performance was nothing new for Haight, who has been a rock for Cornerstone Academy in the past three games. Additional support came from sophomore Steven Benefield, a defensive powerhouse who racked up 15 tackles. Meanwhile, Ambassador Christian Academy claimed a 41 - 31 victory over Riverside Christian two weeks ago.
Their wins bumped Cornerstone Academy to 9-0 and Ambassador Christian Academy to 3-4. While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
