Basketball Recap: West Florida Piles Up the Points Against Gulf Breeze

West Florida lost to Gulf Breeze back in November of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The West Florida Jaguars simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Gulf Breeze Dolphins 52-19. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Dolphins are ranked 473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Florida to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amani Bartholomew, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Bartholomew also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Randi Kemp was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

West Florida smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for West Florida, bringing their record for this year to 12-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Gulf Breeze, their loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florida will square off against Escambia at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th. As for Gulf Breeze, they will challenge Milton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
