The Bloomfield Bombers will head out on the road to face off against Red Jacket at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Bloomfield's victory against Honeoye wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bombers had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 6-5. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bombers.
The team relied heavily on Kyle Dredger, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kevin Dredger was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Red Jacket, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Harley Allendale Columbia on Wednesday, sneaking past 7-5. Red Jacket hasn't had any issues with Harley Allendale Columbia recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Anderson Zepkowski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Red Jacket is undefeated when Zepkowski posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-10 otherwise. Dylan Jenky also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Red Jacket was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Bloomfield's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Red Jacket, their record is now 6-10.
Bloomfield took their victory against Red Jacket in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
