The Lackey Chargers managed to keep up with the Northern Patriots until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Lackey suffered a tough 53-28 defeat at the hands of Northern. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Lackey has suffered yet this season.
Mikayla Jones was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight steals and two blocks for Northern. That's the first time this season that Jones posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Marvray, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Lackey's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 2-7. As for Northern, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lackey will challenge La Plata at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (La Plata is ranked 222nd, while Lackey is ranked 211th). Northern on the road again on Monday and play against Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd.
