Savio took care of business in their home opener on Monday (and then some). Everything went their way against the Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights as the Savio Eagles made off with an 11-3 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row dating back to last season.
Jace Pereira made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pereira was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Savio got a big performance out of Kael Knudson, who scored two runs and stole one base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Knudson a new career-high in RBI (two). Aj Longmire was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing one base while going 1-for-2.
Savio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hill Country Christian School of Austin only posted an OBP of .440.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Brentwood Christian the next time they take the field. Hill Country Christian School of Austin will head out to face Brentwood Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Savio will host them at 4:00 p.m. on February 17th.
