LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sterling (Sterling, Colo.) High School's Rylyan Nelson was named MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Player of the Week for games played Oct. 10-16.
Nelson clubbed her way to this week's award after hitting .889 (8-for-9) with a double, triple, two home runs and a 1.888 slugging percentage. She knocked in seven runs and scored seven times, while posting a .900 on-base percentage. Her output keyed the Tigers to a Region 8 title with victories over Gunnison and host Basalt. Against Gunnison, Nelson left the yard twice, doubled, drove in six runs and scored four runs. Later that same day, the freshman infielder was a perfect 5-for-5 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored to help send Sterling back to the 3A state tournament for the fifth straight year with a 14-3 road triumph.

award. To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or
her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week are announced on NFCA.org
every Monday during the fall season, with one representative chosen
from the participating regions. During the spring campaign, a player
from each of five separate high school regions is selected.
