If the Canby Cougars were feeling good off their 67-45 takedown of the Hood River Valley Eagles last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Canby fell to the Eagles 59-55. Canby was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Canby still got an impressive performance from Jaxon Lawson, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Lawson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Brauckmiller, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Canby's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Centennial, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canby and the Spartans will face off at 5:45 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hillsboro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings (they are ranked 245th, while the Cougars are ranked 98th). As for Centennial, they and the Eagles will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hood River Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
