Northern Lehigh hasn't had much luck against Northwestern Lehigh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Tigers at 4:15 p.m. Northern Lehigh is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Northern Lehigh proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Saucon Valley, sneaking past 8-7.

The team relied heavily on Parker Schaffer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Northern Lehigh is undefeated when Schaffer posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Brayden Buskirk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Northern Lehigh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Northwestern Lehigh ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They blew past Lehighton 9-3. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cole Dynda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Cannon Fitch was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Shane Hulmes, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Northern Lehigh's record now sits at 6-9. As for Northwestern Lehigh, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.
Northern Lehigh suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Northwestern Lehigh when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
