Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Lincoln Charter

Lincoln Charter proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 15) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Mountain Island Charter Raptors 5-4. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on four straight.

Mia Hammond made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She also tossed four walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Lyerly, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Lincoln Charter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain Island Charter, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Lincoln Charter has already played their next match, a 4-1 loss against North Lincoln on the 12th. As for Mountain Island Charter, they will challenge Lincoln Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
