After flying high against the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels on Monday, the Millington Central Trojans came back down to earth. Millington Central suffered a rough 72-48 loss at the hands of Dyer County on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Millington Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Dyer County is ranked 14th).
When it comes to explaining why Millington Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Payne. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points. Payne scored a full 33.3% of Millington Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Tyler, who scored 8 points.
Millington Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Dyer County, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Millington Central will face off against Mayfield at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Dyer County, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against McNairy Central at 2:00 p.m.
