The Windsor Owls will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Jefferson Blue Jays at 5:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Windsor's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their third straight loss. They fell 48-39 to Hillsboro. While losing is never fun, Windsor can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Hillsboro is ranked 80th).
Meanwhile, Jefferson unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. The contest between Jefferson and Perryville wasn't particularly close, with Jefferson falling 52-38. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jefferson in their matchups with Perryville: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Jefferson had strong showings from Megan Wood, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, and Peyton Guffey, who scored seven points. Wood hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games.
Windsor's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4. As for Jefferson, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5.
Windsor was able to grind out a solid win over Jefferson when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 51-43. Will Windsor repeat their success, or does Jefferson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
