The Unity Reed Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Brentsville District 56-20. Unity Reed was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.
Despite the loss, Unity Reed saw an underclassman step up: Angel King scored 11 points.
Brentsville District was led to victory by Ava Garza and Payton Brown. Garza scored 15 points along with four steals, while Brown went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 1 assists. The contest was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. Riley Coombs was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Unity Reed's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Brentsville District, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Unity Reed will head out on the road to face off against Osbourn at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentsville District and Culpeper County will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Culpeper County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Brentsville District is ranked 114th).
