Carl Junction is 1-9 against Neosho since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Carl Junction Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Neosho Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Carl Junction's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carthage.
Despite the defeat, Carl Junction saw an underclassman step up: Brody Pant scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Hocut, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Neosho pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to McDonald County. Neosho just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.
Despite the defeat, Neosho got a solid performance out of Tyrone Harris, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Harris posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Oliver Martin, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Carl Junction now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Neosho, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Carl Junction have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Neosho struggles in that department as they've made 37.3% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
