There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. We'll dive into that and more in this week's report.
Can't Touch This
Hodgson Vo-Tech's 49 - 17 win over Newark last week had a lot to do with the leadership of sophomore Cj Henry. Henry threw for 363 yards and four touchdowns. That performance made Henry one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Wilmington Friends (9th in the power rankings) and Woodbridge (13th) did not disappoint. Wilmington Friends narrowly escaped with a win as it sidled past Woodbridge 24 - 21. Wilmington Friends and Woodbridge were a much more even match than Wilmington Friends's previous opponent, giving the fans a heck of a game.
No Stoppin 'Em
Given its edge in the MaxPreps state rankings, a win looked likely for St. Mark's in its matchup against Indian River. The team got that and then some. St. Mark's picked up a decisive 'W' against Indian River, finishing up at 55 - 14. St. Mark's especially relied on freshman Jeremiah Moore, who rushed for 56 yards and two touchdowns, and senior Jelani Bryant, who tossed the ball for 163 yards and two TDs. At 69 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Sussex Central (11th in the power rankings) and Dover (8th). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Both the Dover and Sussex Central defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 11 ppg and 11 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
