It was a good run, but the Shishmaref Northern Lights unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Non Varsity Tournament Opponent by a score of 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Shishmaref had strong showings from Fred Olanna, who scored 21 points, and Louis Iyatunguk, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Iyatunguk has scored all season.
Shishmaref's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Non Varsity Tournament Opponent, their victory bumped their record up to 77-227.
Shishmaref and the Eagles will face off on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aniguiin is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Non Varsity Tournament Opponent will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the Spartans on February 27th.
