The Calumet New Tech Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Hammond Morton 76-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Calumet New Tech of the 64-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Calumet New Tech had strong showings from Amir Watson, who scored ten points along with two steals, and Eric Allen, who scored six points along with five assists and two steals. Allen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played.
Calumet New Tech has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Hammond Morton, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calumet New Tech won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Kankakee Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Calumet New Tech likes a good challenge. As for Hammond Morton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Warsaw at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
