The Rock Canyon Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Ralston Valley Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Rock Canyon walked away with it. They snuck past Arvada West with a 20-14 win on Thursday.
Rock Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gavin Neira led the charge by throwing for 137 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Rock Canyon also got a significant boost from Tyler Meyer, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 121 yards.
Meanwhile, Ralston Valley beat Arvada West 27-14 two weeks ago. Given Ralston Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Arvada West is ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ralston Valley can attribute much of their success to Jackson Hansen, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hansen hasn't dropped below two receiving touchdowns for three straight games.
Their wins bumped Rock Canyon to 8-3 and Ralston Valley to 8-2.
