Bandera hasn't had much luck against Davenport recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The two teams will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:00 p.m. Bandera has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Bandera is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Navarro, falling 17-7.
Preslee Jade and Cerissa Fernandez did some serious damage despite the final result: Jade scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Fernandez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Jade a new career-high in doubles (two). Bailey Word was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Bandera always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Davenport, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Canyon Lake with a sharp 9-1 victory on Tuesday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Harper Mcquade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on KINLEY Keller, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. She is also on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlynn Kennedy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Davenport has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. Bandera's loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
Bandera suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Davenport in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Bandera avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
