The Western Boone Stars entered their tilt with the North Putnam Cougars with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Western Boone narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past North Putnam 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Western Boone has posted yet this season.
Among those leading the charge was Emmerson Gott, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Westerfeld, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
North Putnam lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rose Haste, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addi Osburn, who scored no points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Western Boone is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for North Putnam, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.
Western Boone will be playing at home against Speedway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Putnam, North Putnam and Owen Valley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Owen Valley is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
