The Norwich Free Academy Wildcats came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 63-33 victory over Waterford. Given Norwich Free Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Waterford is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Emily Orcutt continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Bay-kent, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Norwich Free Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Waterford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Norwich Free Academy will head out on the road to take on Fitch at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waterford, they will be playing at home against Stonington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stonington will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
