MacArthur is on a four-game streak of home losses, Irving a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The MacArthur Cardinals will take on the Irving Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for MacArthur, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-32 loss to Pearce. While losing is never fun, MacArthur can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1052nd, while Pearce is ranked 394th).
Meanwhile, Irving ended up a good deal behind Richardson on Friday and lost 66-47. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Irving in their matchups with Richardson: they've now lost seven in a row.
MacArthur has been struggling recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Irving, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-13.
MacArthur came up short against Irving in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 50-41. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Irving's Taliah Martin, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 12 rebounds. Now that MacArthur knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
