The Century Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Newberg Tigers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Century and three for Newberg.
Century suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 78-49 defeat at the hands of Forest Grove. Century has not had much luck with Forest Grove recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Century had strong showings from Kami Carmean, who scored 18 points, and Olivia Ervin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ervin has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Newberg was the victim of a tough 71-48 defeat at the hands of Sherwood on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Newberg has suffered against Sherwood since January 27, 2018.
Century's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-10. As for Newberg, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Century came up short against Newberg in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 50-40. Can Century avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
