The Marietta Blue Devils will be home for the holidays to greet the Campbell Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Marietta humbled Kennesaw Mountain with a 62-9 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Marietta has managed all season.
Marietta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Day out in front who scored nine points along with nine steals and six assists. Day is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kyann Senior was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Campbell had just enough and edged Hillgrove out 52-49 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Campbell.
It was another big night for Marlie Battle, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Suttle, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Marietta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Campbell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Marietta have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 28.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Campbell, though, as they've been averaging only 35.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
