After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Twin Lakes, the West Lafayette Red Devils were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down North Montgomery 66-47. Given West Lafayette's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while North Montgomery is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why North Montgomery lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kelby Harwood. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.1% of North Montgomery's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jarrod Kirsch, who scored seven points along with two steals.
West Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for North Montgomery, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
