The Los Gatos Wildcats will square off against the Wilcox Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Los Gatos is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Los Gatos beat St. Ignatius College Preparatory 21-17.
Boxer Kopcsak-Yeung was his usual excellent self, rushing for 176 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Kopcsak-Yeung is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Los Gatos also got help from Jaylen Thomas who showed off his sure hands for 112 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Wilcox was beaten by Serra 63-27 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wilcox can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Serra is ranked sixth).
Los Gatos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Wilcox, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Los Gatos has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 156.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wilcox struggles in that department as they've been even better at 313 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Los Gatos came out on top in a nail-biter against Wilcox in their previous meeting back in October, sneaking past 24-21. Will Los Gatos repeat their success, or does Wilcox have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
