Softball Recap: Three Rivers Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Three Rivers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They never let the Sabinal Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 15 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyson Gomez and Kylee Garcia made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Gomez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garcia tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. At bat, Gomez went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one triple, while Garcia scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That triple was Gomez's first of the season.

In other batting news, Kloe Duran was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Nayelli Longinos was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Three Rivers hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Three Rivers pushed their record up to 18-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sabinal, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
