Softball Recap: Hilltop Beats Orange Glen for Their Third Straight Victory

Hilltop had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against the Orange Glen Patriots by a score of 13-10.

The team relied heavily on Yaretzi Amesquita, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Matos, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Hilltop was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hilltop pushed their record up to 10-10-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orange Glen, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Coming up, Hilltop will be playing in front of their home fans against Mar Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The contest will give the Lancers their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Orange Glen, they will take on La Jolla Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Torreys at the right time seeing as the Torreys are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
