Monticello had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it 12. They lost  12-2 to the Valley Central Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  10-0  back in April.

On Valley Central's side,  Luke Watson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on two hits and racked up ten Ks.
 On the hitting side,  Jake Cancredi and  Kellen Pliler did most of the damage at the plate:  Cancredi  got on base  in three of his four plate appearances with three  stolen bases and two  runs, while  Pliler  got on base  in both of his plate appearances with four  runs and one  stolen base. Those  four  runs gave  Pliler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Mason McDonald, who  got on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs and one  stolen base.
 Looking ahead, Monticello will challenge Minisink Valley at 4:15  p.m.  on Monday. As for Valley Central, they will head out to  square off against Pine Bush  at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. The Bushmen will roll in looking for their  fifth straight  win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight.
