Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon lost a heartbreaker to Carmi-White County when they met back in December of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. Mt. Vernon's tough 65-41 loss to Carmi-White County might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Mt. Vernon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 377th in Indiana, while Carmi-White County is ranked 159th in Illinois).
Mt. Vernon's defeat came about despite a quality game from Arlissa Sharber, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Sharber.
Evansville Bosse's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.9 points per game. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
