The Mullen Broncos will face off against the Maxwell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mullen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Maxwell likes a good challenge.
On Friday, Mullen took their game with ease, bagging a 59-20 victory over Bayard. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Broncos just coasted through the last quarter.

Mullen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 335 rushing yards. They rushed for 128 more rushing yards than Bayard's also-impressive total of 207.
Meanwhile, Maxwell gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Brady. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Mullen better keep an eye on Jesse Reyes. He was instrumental in Maxwell's win, rushing for 204 yards and four scores while picking up 9.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 54 yards and one TD. Reyes is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Maxwell, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Reyes, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Maxwell's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mullen, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Mullen has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 245.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Maxwell struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 261.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Mullen skirted past Maxwell 34-32 in their previous matchup on October 3rd. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Reyes, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 237 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Broncos still be able to contain Reyes? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
