The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Edmonds-Woodway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Edmonds-Woodway's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Shorewood by a score of 5-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
The result came thanks to Ella Campbell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Catie Ingalls, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Archbishop Murphy never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mountlake Terrace on Friday. They walked away with a 14-10 win over the Hawks.
Ari Dixon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Maddie Evans was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Saylah Lopez was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Archbishop Murphy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountlake Terrace only managed ten hits.
Edmonds-Woodway's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Murphy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edmonds-Woodway hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Archbishop Murphy struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edmonds-Woodway took their victory against Archbishop Murphy in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
