Avery Miller posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Monday. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Considering she played a big game the last time she faced off against Metea Valley back in April, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Miller and Naperville Central will be playing at home against Waubonsie Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redhawks got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Warriors thanks in part to Miller: she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk).
