The Cedarville Indians will face off against the Miami Trace Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedarville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Southeastern Local hit Cedarville with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians came up short against the Trojans, falling 7-1. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cedarville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayden Rodgers, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Miami Trace had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They never let the Green Devils get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season.
Miami Trace got a massive performance out of Carlee Hauck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Kaylee Everhart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Miami Trace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Adams only posted an OBP of .286.
Miami Trace pushed their record up to 5-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cedarville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Miami Trace struggles in that department as they've averaged .339. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cedarville took their victory against Miami Trace in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-5 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
