The Fairfield Mules's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Mt. Carmel 50-44. Fairfield lost against Mt. Carmel in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-36 score last time.
Mt. Carmel found their leader in underclassman Maycee Randall, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Randall has scored at least 25% of Mt. Carmel's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Smith, who scored 15 points.
Fairfield now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mt. Carmel, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Fairfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Nashville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nashville is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. Mt. Carmel's road trip will continue as they head out to face Flora at 6:15 p.m. on November 27th. Flora will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 235th).
