The Hilton Head Prep Dolphins will head out on the road to face off against the First Baptist School Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Hilton Head Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Saturday, Hilton Head Prep strolled past Bethesda Academy with points to spare, taking the game 59-44.
Hilton Head Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Billy Barron, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 0 assists. Another player making a difference was Jason Britschge, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, First Baptist School's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 76-51 defeat at the hands of Porter-Gaud. While losing is never fun, First Baptist School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Porter-Gaud is ranked 22nd).
Hilton Head Prep has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for First Baptist School, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Hilton Head Prep came up short against First Baptist School when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 63-58. Can Hilton Head Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
