2A District 8 recap October 8, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Quapaw, who took down 235th ranked Ketchum, 40-38. Beau Kibel ran for 102 yards and caught 4 passes for 113 yards in the win.
Commerce extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Kansas, 41-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.
The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Garrett Kelly and Kibel proved to be unstoppable against the Warriors, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Kelly threw for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kibel had 113 yards receiving. Alec Hayward helped Quapaw's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 22 yards.
DC Chance was a beast in the backfield as Commerce topped the Comets.
Chance provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Steve Moss' team defeated Kansas.
Eddie Barnwell's team's Logan Blaine and Tracy Pruitt have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-8 quarterback Blaine has thrown for 808 yards this season, while Pruitt has 14 catches for 367 yards. Chance from the Tigers leads the league in rushing with 1,133 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Salina takes on Wyandotte. As it stands, the Wildcats are in second, while the Bears are in third.
Wyandotte was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 2A District 8. Brad Homer's team vanquished Hulbert 34-0 earlier in the week.
