Basketball Recap: Malekai Dillon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Hills over Valhalla

After flying high against Coastal Academy last Friday, West Hills came back down to earth. The West Hills Wolf Pack fell 65-52 to the Valhalla Norsemen on Monday. The game was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Wolf Pack couldn't quite close it out.

West Hills lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Malekai Dillon, who posted 13 points and four steals. Dillon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed four or more in the last three games he's played. Ethan Shaw was another key player, putting up six points along with eight assists and seven boards.

Valhalla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Davis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Mikhail, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 19 points.

West Hills has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Valhalla, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.

West Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-69 victory against El Capitan on the 10th. As for Valhalla, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 50-42 win against Grossmont on the 10th.
