The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will head out on the road to square off against the St. John Fighting Herald at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Wednesday, Pymatuning Valley made easy work of Lordstown and carried off a 20-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mackenzie Kribbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, McKenna Jordan was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Rylee Young also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. John). They put the hurt on Lakeside with a sharp 16-10 victory on Thursday. The Fighting Herald haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Like Pymatuning Valley, St. John also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabelle Holler. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Holler was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, St. John got a massive performance out of Nadia Lagoa, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Carney, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
St. John was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .465. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Pymatuning Valley and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for St. John, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
St. John's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pymatuning Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .585. It's a different story for St. John, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Pymatuning Valley's hitters?
Pymatuning Valley took their win against St. John when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Do the Lakers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Herald turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
