Midlakes is 1-9 against Wayne since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Screaming Eagles will square off against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Wednesday, Midlakes was able to grind out a solid win over Mynderse Academy, taking the game 6-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Screaming Eagles.

Ayden Klapp made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Klapp is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Deckert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Zach Donk, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wayne is still undefeated this season after their contest against Waterloo on Wednesday, but Waterloo came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Eagles never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The result came thanks to Benjamin Smith's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
The win got Midlakes back to even at 2-2. As for Wayne, their record now sits at 6-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Midlakes has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wayne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Midlakes suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Wayne when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Screaming Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
