New Fairfield took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Greenwich Cardinals with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Briana Puff made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Puff was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Sarah Ottusch was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-4. Sophia Callahan was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
