Aiden Rudman was his usual excellent self, rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 106.2 rushing yards per game. Andrew Ascolani was another key back, rushing for 91 yards and one TD on only six carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lemont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in five consecutive contests.
Lemont didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Denell Johnson and Revin Maldonado. Lemont got some further help from Jackson Dybcio: he made 14 total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hillcrest). They blew past Bremen, posting a 54-0 win. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Hawks with their most commanding win of the season.
Hillcrest's win came from a few key players Lemont will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Khyran Bullard, who rushed for 63 yards and one score on only six carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Lemont's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Hillcrest, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Lemont has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hillcrest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 175.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Lemont barely slipped by Hillcrest in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 43-42. Will the Lemont HS repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
