Warsaw and Northridge are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Warsaw is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
Warsaw is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Carroll just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 7-6.
Warsaw got a good showing from Zac Miller, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Miller has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cohen Heady was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Northridge posted their closest win since May 17, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Concord 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.
JT Tabor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Northridge saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Mann, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Northridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Northridge now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Warsaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Warsaw has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Warsaw suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Northridge in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
