The Gustine Reds fell victim to the Rio Vista Rams''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Rams, falling 42-0. Gustine just can't catch a break and has now endured four losses in a row.
Rio Vista can attribute much of their success to Daniel Diaz, who rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. Emmett Medders also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Gustine's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rio Vista, Orestimba, and Le Grand. As for Rio Vista, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Gustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rio Vista will face off against Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ripon Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
